What It Is

Your vehicle moved safely — to exactly where you need it

Vehicle towing is for any situation where a car, van, or motorbike needs to be moved but cannot be driven. Broken down, been in an accident, seized engine, locked wheels, failed MOT, or just needs transporting to a new location — a towing operator handles it.

Operators use flatbed transporters, wheel-lift trucks, and specialist rigs depending on the vehicle type and its condition. Flatbeds are the safest option for low-clearance, prestige, and non-driveable vehicles — the car is loaded onto the bed rather than towed on two wheels. Operators will use the appropriate equipment for your specific vehicle.

You choose the destination when you request the quote — your preferred independent garage, a main dealership, your home, a storage facility, or anywhere else in the UK. There's no restricted list, no hidden mileage charges, and the price is fixed before anyone moves.

Professional, door-to-door towing

Flatbed or wheel-lift — whichever is right

Flatbed transporters are used for low-clearance, prestige, and seriously damaged vehicles. Wheel-lift rigs handle standard cars and vans. Operators bring the appropriate equipment for your vehicle.

You choose the destination

Motorway and A-road recovery

Operators cover motorways and major A-roads across the UK. If you're on a motorway, move to the hard shoulder or emergency refuge area, stay behind the barrier, and wait for confirmation.

Long-distance towing available

Need your vehicle transported across the country? Long-distance jobs are quoted individually. A short local tow of up to 10 miles typically costs £80–£150; a 50+ mile job is quoted on distance.

Fully insured throughout

All operators carry public liability and goods-in-transit insurance. Your vehicle is protected from the moment it's loaded to the moment it's delivered at the destination.

Fixed price, no add-ons

The quoted price covers the full job — pickup, transport, and delivery. No mileage add-ons, no surprise fuel surcharges, no fee on arrival.

FAQs

Common questions about vehicle towing

How much does it cost to tow a car in the UK?

Towing costs depend on distance, vehicle type, and time of day. A local tow of up to 10 miles typically costs between £80 and £150 for a standard car during the day. A regional tow of 10–50 miles typically runs £120–£250, and long-distance towing (50+ miles) is quoted individually — usually £200 upwards. You'll receive a fixed quote before the operator departs, so there are no surprises.

My car broke down on the motorway — what happens?

Move to the left and get onto the hard shoulder or into an emergency refuge area if possible. Switch on your hazard lights, exit the vehicle from the left-hand side, and wait behind the barrier — never stand in front of or behind your vehicle on a live motorway. Call us with your location (motorway number, direction, and the nearest marker post if visible). Operators are able to reach motorway locations. Highways England can also arrange recovery via the emergency SOS phones if needed.

What types of vehicle can be towed?

Operators tow cars, vans, motorcycles, light commercial vehicles, 4x4s, and many classic or prestige vehicles. Flatbed transporters are used for low-clearance, prestige, or non-driveable vehicles. If you have an unusual vehicle, include the details in your quote request and we'll confirm what equipment is needed.

Can you tow to any destination in the UK?

Yes. You choose where your vehicle goes — your preferred garage, a main dealership, your home, or anywhere else in the UK. There's no approved garage list and no restrictions. Long-distance jobs are quoted accordingly.

My car can't be driven at all. Can it still be towed?

Towing is specifically for vehicles that cannot be driven. Whether it's a seized engine, accident damage, locked wheels, or a complete mechanical failure — operators carry equipment to safely load and transport non-driveable vehicles.

Is my vehicle insured while it's being towed?

All operators on our marketplace carry public liability and goods-in-transit insurance. Your vehicle is covered from the moment it's loaded to the moment it's delivered at the destination.

What's the difference between towing and breakdown assistance?

Breakdown assistance means a mechanic comes to you and attempts to fix the fault at the roadside. Towing is for when the vehicle needs to be moved — either because the fault can't be fixed on-site, or you simply want it taken somewhere specific. If you're not sure which you need, describe the situation in the quote form and we'll advise.

How does payment work?

A booking fee is paid by bank transfer upfront to confirm the job. The remaining balance is paid directly to the operator on delivery. The full price breakdown is agreed and fixed before the operator departs — no on-site renegotiation.
